MANILA, Philippines - Umaasa ang Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) na mauumpisahan na ang rehabilitasyon ng 30-taong gulang na LRT Line 1 sa darating na Marso upang mapataas ang kalidad ng serbisyo at seguridad ng milyong pasahero nito.

Sinabi ni LRTA spokesman Hernando Cabrera na limang lokal na korporasyon at isang dayuhang kompanya na ang nagpahayag ng pagsali sa bidding para sa P1.06 bilyong kontrata sa naturang rehabilitasyon.

Kabilang dito ang DM Consunji Inc. (DMCI), Pilipinas Hino Inc., Jorgman Development and Planning Corp., Joratech Corp. at Miescorrail Inc. ang mga lokal na kompanya habang Japanese industrial giant Sumimoto Corporation ay nagpahayag din ng interes sa proyekto.

Nabatid na may limang bahagi ang planong rehabilitasyon sa LRT Line 1 na inumpisahan ang konstruksyon noon pang taong 1981 sa panahon ni dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos.

alt MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and a party-list group are proposing two schemes to decongest EDSA, one of the metropolis’ major roads.

The MMDA said the “Skybridge,” an alternate highway that would link Makati and Quezon City, is already on the drawing board. The United Transport Koalisyon (1-UTAK), on the other hand, proposed that EDSA be converted into a tollway and motorists driving through it during peak hours would be charged extra.

Sa ating madalas na pag labas sa lansangan ng ka-Maynilaan ang unang una mong makikita ay mga Tsuper na nag lilingkod sa lahat ng mga nais pumasok sa Trabaho, Eskwela at iba't ibang Establishments. Di nila alintana ang init, polusyon at minsan ay ang masamang lagay panahon para lamang may mairaos ang pang araw araw na pangangailangan ng kanilang pamilya.

Pero kung inyong tatanungin ang karamihan ng mga Tsuper kung may sarili na silang bahay? ang madalas nila isasagot ay "Wala" meron ba sila Calamity Loan? "Wala uli" at iba pang mga Benepisyo na meron ang mga empleyadon pumapasok sa Opisina tulad ng PAG-IBIG Funds at Philhealth na kung ating iisipin ay pwede naman na meron din sila ngunit di ito binibigyan ng pansin ng ating pamahalaan.
